Anderson Island is a short and relaxing twenty minute ferry ride from Steilacoom, Washington. Just under eight miles long, Anderson Island has a general store, a restaurant, one cafe, and three lakes. There are not any stoplights on the island. Just over 1,000 year-round residents call Anderson Island home, although there are also many part-time residents and vacationers, especially during the summer months.
Anderson Island is the southernmost island in the Puget Sound. Lake Josephine is also known as “the quiet lake” as motorcraft are not allowed on this lake. On Lake Florence, motorcraft are welcomed.
How do I get to Anderson Island? From Tacoma, take I-5 South to exit 119 (Dupont-Steilacoom exit). From there, head north for about 6 miles to Steilacoom, and you will see the ferry dock just before you reach the Steilacoom waterfront.
